How Much I Spent On Makeup This Month #3

The start of the Spring season has definitely changed the focus of my expenses this month, which is kind of understandable if you look at what I spent on makeup in February! Just in case you don't know, I started collecting receipts and writing down all of my expenses regarding my makeup shopping sprees. As a beauty blogger I feel like sometimes I try to justify many of my makeup purchases by simply stating 'I need it to blog' or 'I need it for my youtube channel'. To actually hold myself accountable I began this series on my blog to keep track of the amount of money that leaves my wallet for makeup products every month. Let's have a look at how much money I spent on makeup in March!

Contouring: To Palette Or Not To Palette?

Contouring palettes are on the rise and pretty much any makeup company is rushing to get top rates on their shaping, sculpting and highlighting makeup gear. Low budget makeup brands are keeping up just fine, but are their products just as good as their individual pans? Whenever I purchase an affordable shaping kit I never end up using every single product in the palette, so my question is: contouring on a budget - to palette or not to palette? Let's have a look!

What You Don't Know About Self Care

Something that has been very close to my heart, ever since I started going to therapy, is self care. Growing up I didn't know what self care was, I wasn't allowed to practise self care and when I did I was called an egoist and expected to feel guilty about it. Everything in my life always needed to have a greater purpose, needed to be about other people, about helping people and being compassionate. As a result I've never really been compassionate or understanding towards myself, I never felt good enough and I thought I didn't deserve anything. In fact, when I would be kind to myself the guilt would be so extreme that I would either become sad or angry, or both. Through therapy I'm finally learning that self care is okay and that it is in fact a necessity. Today, I want to touch on the way self care is often turned into this 'let's watch movies all day', 'let's buy a new perfume', 'let's order loads of take out' type of thing. There is a very important aspect of self care that is not or rarely talked about, especially when it comes to those who struggle with mental health.

Essence Camouflage Foundation & Concealer

Finding affordable base products, that actually work, isn't always that easy. Yes, the drugstore is filled with foundations and concealers, but drugstore prices don't necessarily mean that everything is inexpensive. Essence Cosmetics on the other hand does score on my best of budget friendly makeup list and is one of my go-to brands for many things: blush, mascara, lipsticks and lipglosses. Today I'll be reviewing their newest concealer and foundation from the Essence Camouflage makeup line.

Please Stop Stealing My Images

Yesterday I found out yet again that my content was being used without my knowledge/permission by a company with nearly 1 million followers on twitter, half a million on Facebook and not to mention their other social media pages. They took a collage I had assembled with images I had received from a press release (??) and they just bluntly copied the title and the intro of my blogpost and posted it on their site to promote their beauty section. The worst part: my site wasn't linked, meaning I missed out on possibly thousands of potential new readers. I can't help but feeling absolutely disgusted.

Khloé Kardashian iPhone App Review

Let me start off by saying that I'm not a Kardashian stalker or a crazy super fan, my intent here is to review the KHLOÉ App from a and my beauty and lifestyle blogger point of view. I like the Kardashians, I like their show and yes I do keep up with them but just so we are clear - I'm reviewing this just like I would review every other product/item/service on my site. I thought it would be fun to share my thoughts and let you know whether it's worth the subscription or not. My boyfriend surprised me with an iTunes card a couple weeks ago and I immediately knew I wanted to try one of the Kardashian/Jenner apps. Khloé is the one Kardashian sister I've been keeping up with the most lately, ever since her 'Revenge Body' series kicked off, so I decided to go with her app first! Let's have a look.

Maybelline Dream Cushion Foundation

I know I've been reviewing a hell of a lot of foundations lately but I feel like the drugstores have so many amazing products in their makeup aisles at the moment that just I can't handle myself! The Maybelline Dream Cushion was next on my list. I've been featuring quite a few of the new 2017 Maybelline makeup launches, such as the 24K Nudes Eyeshadow Palette and their Color Drama Lip Contour Palettes, and I didn't want to miss out on the opportunity to try their take on the cushion makeup trend. Here are my thoughts!

Why I'm Not a 100K Blogzilla

I've been following online creators since I was 16 years old and today, a decade later (I'm 26), I kinda regret only starting to create my own content about 3 years ago. All the girls I envied when I was a teenager have become successful women now, online icons. While I'm sure they had many challenges to face and still do, to stand where they are presently, I've been feeling the disadvantages of starting 'late' and being a 'microblogger'. Successful content creators are only becoming more successful and the little ones, like me, are left swimming in the dirt, desperately trying to beat algorithms. Growing your blog 'organically' has very much become a thing from the past and being a blogzilla sells souls.

The 1 Year Therapy Update

When I look back at some of the things that I wrote on my site about my struggle with depression and anxiety, therapy and mental health, I'm slightly uncomfortable. In many posts I state that I'm 'sober' when it is very apparent I'm in a lot of distress and that I'm hurting. Therapy is a process and a long one. It's also not as straightforward as it is sometimes made out to be in movies, school or society as a whole. It is so much more than just talking about your feelings and your past. It's about coming to the realisation that things were not okay, why they weren't okay and how exactly everything played out the way it did. In my case I'm confronted a lot with the choices my parents made, how I was raised, and it's extremely confusing and painful. So painful in fact that it is making the relationship with my family very difficult. I can't bring myself to pick up their phone calls or even talk to them over text. When my phone rings my eyes widen in fear and I can feel the panic rushing through my veins.

Best Makeup Brushes For Hooded Eyes

It was only when I started using the Zoeva Rose Gold Eye Set that I understood the importance of having quality makeup tools. My eyeshadow skills made such great progress using this set I couldn't quite believe it. I never expected to love the Zoeva brushes so much that I actually purchased back ups. The Zoeva Rose Golden Complete Eye Set is an eyeshadow set of 12 brushes, and in this post I want to share with you my top 4 most used brush picks that are excellent for those of you who have small or hooded eyes. I always thought that doing eyeshadow was something impossible to experiment with when having hooded eyes, let me tell you, as long as you're using the right gear it isn't!

Catrice Essential Nude Eyeshadow Palette

Catrice Cosmetics launched 4 new eyeshadow palettes: The Modern Matt Collection Eyeshadow Palette in 010 The Must-Have Matts, The Nude Blossom Collection Eyeshadow Palette in 010 Blossom 'N Roses, The Precious Copper Collection Eyeshadow Palette in 010 Metallux and The Essential Nude Collection Eyeshadow Palette in 010 ReNude My Style, which is the palette that I am reviewing today. Neutral colors with rosé and copper tones have always had my preference, but it wasn't until I spotted this palette at the drugstore that I was actually convinced to purchase it. I find that the eyeshadows of the Essential Nude Palette do not compare at all with what you can see on the Catrice website. The shades look like they have more of a purple undertone which is not what you can see in my images, so keep that in mind!
