How Much Money I Spent On Makeup This Month #4

Another month has passed, another post with all the receipts! I started a new blog series where I talk about how much money I spend on makeup, and at the end of the year I'm pretty sure I'm going to give myself a heart attack when I decide to put all my expenses together. I never really kept track of what I spent on cosmetics so I have no idea what to expect! Let's see how much makeup I bought in the month of April.

- Week 1

I went with a girlfriend to Antwerp, which is a really nice city in Belgium for shopping and sightseeing, and picked up a couple of products that I had just recently ran out of: an Essence mascara, a Catrice brow pencil and an H&M pressed powder. I also purchased a sample size Lush Tea Tree Water. I had never tried it before and it used to be really hyped a while ago. I didn't know they sold travel size bottles so it felt good to spend a little less and not immediately commit to a large bottle. I'm liking the spray so far but I'm not sure about its effectiveness. It makes my makeup look really nice (more dewy and fresh) but it doesn't actually fight any bacteria that might cause break outs, like it claims on the packaging. Check out my most recent makeup haul to see all of the products here!

Lush Tea Tree Water €6.95
Essence Lash Princess Volume Mascara €3.39
Catrice Slim' Matic Brow Pencil €2.99
H&M Immaculate Foundation Compact €9.99

-Week 2

After my Antwerp shopping spree I decided not to visit the drugstore for a week lol, partly because the good weather has me hanging out with friends more (drinking Aperol Spritz) but mostly because I just bought a new camera for filming and blogging! I purchased the CANON EOS 700D and I couldn't be happier. My blog pictures look better than they have ever before and the quality of my Youtube videos has improved significantly! This is my first DSLR and it was quite an investment (before I was blogging with a compact camera and filming with a regular camcorder), I spent about €500,- and this was a package deal. I got the camera together with an extra battery, a 32GB SD card and a 18-55mm lens. If any of you are interested I purchased my DSLR at Fnac.

- No makeup expenses €0

- Week 3

The sun was out and I wanted to go for a stroll. The Essence mascara was something I planned on buying in week 1, but I couldn't find it anywhere (even after visiting 3 drugstores) so I bought that, and the NYX lipliner was something new. I don't go shopping at NYX often, the store in Brussels isn't really that cosy and some of the products are pricey. I've had makeup from NYX before but I never got into using it so I'm always careful when I shop there. To my surprise this lipliner was the best purchase ever. The formula is a-m-a-z-i-n-g, so amazing in fact that I dedicated an entire video talking about my top 5 favorite budget lipliners, check it out here.

NYX Lip Liner €7.20
Essence Lash Princess False Lash Effect Mascara €3.39

- Week 4

Somehow Primark is always on top of makeup trends, always. Even though I don't like to support fast beauty, I find myself in their makeup aisles time and time again. Everything is just so affordable and cute looking. This time I went for a highlighting kit and a blusher brush. The previous brush I bought from them turned out to be just fine so I decided to pick up another one. The 'Bronze' highlighting kit swatched like butter when I tried it in the shop so I can't wait to review it for my blog and use it in a makeup tutorial. There also was an eyeshadow palette available that seemed like it had great quality shadows but I didn't love the color selection.

Primark Bronze Highlighter & Glow €5
Primark Angled Powder Brush €2

Total amount of money spent on makeup this month: €40.91

Total amount of money spent in January €68.23
Total amount of money spent in February €87.21
Total amount of money spent in March €53.47

I feel like this was a month where I focussed on what I needed rather than what I wanted. I've been craving a good online spending spree but I've been putting it off because there simply is no need for it. I'm going to Rome, Italy, in May and I want to pay Sephora a little visit. I don't have any specific plans, I just would like to take a look around and maybe splurge on something high end for once!

  1. Such an interesting post! I've been really good the past few weeks and not purchased any makeup as I really don't need any more but this weekend I just couldn't resist the Superdrug 3 for 2!

  2. It really looks like you've been learning to control your spending over the past few months. Good job! I must admit I've been really bad during April. I've spent a ridiculous amount! Enough to put myself on my second spending ban of the year, haha!
