Essence Primer Review

Essence Cosmetics currently only has one primer in their permanent collection, next to their foundations, powders, concealers, and that is the Get Picture Ready Pore Refining Mattifying Primer. More recently I saw a display of a super cute Essence limited edition called 'Little Beauty Angels' and the 3 primers in the collection immediately caught my attention. I picked up the Soft Brightening Face Perfection Primer. Let's have a look!

When it comes to primers I need a product that is going to smooth out my skin, minimise the appearance of fine lines and extend the wear of my foundation and concealer. This Essence Beauty Angels primer is designed to mattify and even out the skin, brighten dark parts of the face, give a fresh and radiant complexion and make your makeup last longer. The primer has a nude color, that blends in clear, and carries a nice refreshing, sweet scent. I was really impressed with how it swatched in the drugstore so I couldn't wait to try it, see my most recent Essence Makeup Haul here.

Unfortunately it didn't work out for me. I tried it with one of my favorite foundations and it didn't really improve the wear of my makeup. My foundation looked rather greasy and it was creasing considerably. I thought this product would be similar to the Catrice Prime & Fine Nude Glow Primer but that one seems to be more creamy, visibly mattifies your skin and soaks in pretty much immediately. The Essence Beauty Angels Primer is more hydrating and not as easy to blend. It's pretty worn on its own but considering I wear makeup often I don't think I'll get a lot of use out of it. I do like the look of the packaging however, I wish Essence would release more white/nude products.
