Essence Cosmetics Lash Princess Sculpted Volume Mascara Review

I love the Essence Lash Princess Mascaras, they're affordable and work wonders on your lashes! Their popularity certainly hasn't gone unnoticed for the Essence Cosmetics team and in February 2017 they launched yet another Lash Princess mascara: a purple one this time, for some extra sculpted volume, as a part of the new Essence makeup collection for the Spring/Summer season. If you're not familiar with this formula, check my review of the other Lash Princess Mascaras here.

I like the Essence Lash Princess Sculpted Volume Mascara, it separates the lashes nicely, the mascara is really black and it holds the curl well. I almost feel like it's a hybrid of their previous Lash Princess mascaras, the coral one is great for lengthening the lashes and keeping curl and the green one is beautiful for making your lashes look thicker. This purple one kinda does both. The wand of this mascara is slightly curved and the bristles are packed together tightly, which allows you to coat the product on evenly. You'd expect the mascara to look clumpy or your lashes to turn out spidery, but I don't find that to be true.

I do have to add that the first few times I wore this mascara I didn't have any issues at all, until the other day when I spent some time in the sun at the park. I came home afterwards with big, bad panda eyes. The mascara had smudged absolutely everywhere. This was also a problem I had with the green Lash Princess, which is why I started wearing it together with the coral one, layering both formulas. I'm not exactly sure why it smudged, I assume it was because that day I kept on coating the mascara on like there was no tomorrow, to have beautiful long lashes. My plan seems to have backfired. I don't feel like I was sweating excessively for the mascara to smudge.

I'm a little conflicted now about the formula of the newest Lash Princess mascara. Someone on my Essence 2017 Makeup Collection Review also mentioned the flaking. Compared to the other mascaras the price is also lower, the difference is 40 cents. Maybe the formulation isn't as Lash Princess proof?! What do you think? Definitely let me know!

You can find the Essence Lash Princess Sculpted Volume Mascara at Kruidvat for €2.99

  1. I like the mascara, even though I find the wand too clumsy for my taste. But I can't wear it on my lower lashes because it smudges like all of their mascaras I tried so far.
