Essence 2017 Shine Shine Shine Lipgloss Review

Essence Cosmetics has revamped their entire lipgloss collection and today I have a review and comparison of their newly launched formulas: the Essence Matt Matt Matt Longlasting Lipglosses, part of last year's make over, and the Essence Shine Shine Shine Wet Look Lipglosses that only just hit the racks in the drugstore. Let's have a look!

The matte lipglosses from Essence come in 5 different shades and the metallic lipglosses in 13 different shades. The lipglosses that I am reviewing today are called '02 Beauty Approved!' which is a neutral, pink lip color and '06 Bright On! which is a brown, nude lip color.

For those of you who watch my makeup videos on Youtube, you know that I included this particular Essence Matt Matt Matt Lipgloss in my TOP 5 Worst Makeup Products of 2016.

2016 was the year of the liquid lipsticks and even though that hasn't changed by now, as the trend is still very much alive, I do think Essence should seriously consider changing the Matt Matt Matt lipgloss formula. I, for a fact, picked this up thinking it was the Essence Cosmetics' version of a liquid lipstick. I know this is not claimed on the packaging but I was not the only one being confused, as so many other girls had the exact same thinking process and ended up just as disappointed as me. The formula of this lipgloss is greasy, it's not opaque, it feels weird on the lips and it isn't at all longlasting. Essence has tricked us all and I'm not here for it, or maybe just for the vanilla scent of this lipgloss, because I love vanilla.

Thankfully, I have much nicer things to say about the Essence Shine Shine Shine Lipgloss! I purchased mine together with all the other newly launched Essence Cosmetics products for the 2017 Spring/ Summer season. Take a look at my massive Essence makeup haul on my Youtube channel here, or if you're more interested in a thorough review about every new product, with swatches, you can find that here. Even though I was afraid these Shine Shine Shine lipglosses would end up being a total glittery mess, I decided to put one in my cart anyway and I'm so glad I did. The formula is comfortable, pigmented, opaque and gives a gorgeous finish to the lips. It's not the most longlasting lipgloss but it has a beautiful metallic effect and also comes with a soft, sweet, candy-like scent. If you don't mind reapplying your lipgloss throughout the day, I recommend it. Love!

You can find the Essence Cosmetics Lipglosses in Kruidvat for only €1.99

  1. I love how you're so honest in your reviews babe! The matt X3 one doesn't sound great but I'm glad the shine X3 is better!
