Catrice The Essential Nude Eyeshadow Palette
Wednesday, 1 March 2017
Catrice Cosmetics launched 4 new eyeshadow palettes: The Modern Matt Collection Eyeshadow Palette in 010 The Must-Have Matts, The Nude Blossom Collection Eyeshadow Palette in 010 Blossom 'N Roses, The Precious Copper Collection Eyeshadow Palette in 010 Metallux and The Essential Nude Collection Eyeshadow Palette in 010 ReNude My Style, which is the palette that I am reviewing today. Neutral colors with rosé and copper tones have always had my preference, but it wasn't until I spotted this palette at the drugstore that I was actually convinced to purchase it. I find that the eyeshadows of the Essential Nude Palette do not compare at all with what you can see on the Catrice website. The shades look like they have more of a purple undertone which is not what you can see in my images, so keep that in mind!
The new Catrice eyeshadow palettes are beautiful, see the full collection here. They are larger than their previous (discontinued) palettes, they contain more product (10g instead of 6g) and they are a lot more sleek. Take a look at their old 'Chocolate Nudes' palette here for a comparison! What I was interested in the most is whether they actually improved the formula. Their previous palettes are okay, I was never wowed by them. Even though I very much appreciate that a low budget brand invests in the make of eyeshadow palettes, the quality is not always there, so did Catrice make a change? Are we receiving more and better eyeshadows for the same retail price?
The first and the last shade are the swatches from the horizontally placed eyeshadows in the palette, called 'Light' and 'Sculpt'. The lightest shades of this palette are definitely the dustiest, all the darker shades on the other hand are smooth and buttery, with nice pigmentation. Out of all the shimmers I definitely find the palette's middle shade the most beautiful (see image below) and the easiest to work with, it is an excellent eyeshadow to blend in and above the crease. The other two have a lot of fall out ('Light' and the eyeshadow left from the middle shade). 'Sculpt' is my favorite eyeshadow from this entire palette, it is a gorgeous shade to bring more dept to an eyeshadow look. You can see me using this palette live in a video here.
TALC, MICA, SYNTHETIC FLUORPHLOGOPITE, ALUMINUM STARCH OCTENYLSUCCINATE, NYLON-12, POLYPROPYLENE, SILICA, OCTYLDODECYL STEAROYL STEARATE, PENTAERYTHRITYL TETRAISOSTEARATE, ZINC STEARATE, CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE, POLYETHYLENE, DIISOSTEARYL MALATE, TOCOPHEROL, STEARYL DIMETHICONE, CAPRYLYL GLYCOL, OCTADECENE, PTFE, HEXYLENE GLYCOL, DISODIUM EDTA, TRIOLEIN, TIN OXIDE, CETYL PEG/PPG-10/1 DIMETHICONE, HEXYL LAURATE, POLYGLYCERYL-4 ISOSTEARATE, LECITHIN, MALTODEXTRIN, ASCORBYL PALMITATE, CITRIC ACID, DEHYDROACETIC ACID, PHENOXYETHANOL, CI 75470 (CARMINE), CI 77891 (TITANIUM DIOXIDE).
The new Catrice Essential Nude palette is nice but it's definitely not a must have. It's very basic and not much has changed. My guess is that they took the formula from the old palettes and used it for the new palettes. The eyeshadows feel the same way and the texture is pretty much identical. If you're new to Catrice Cosmetics and you are looking for a budget friendly eyeshadow palette, why not. It's affordable and I've managed to create some beautiful looks with it.
The Catrice Essential Nude palette retails for €4.99 and is available in Belgium at Kruidvat.
