Essence Mosaic Blush Review

Essence Cosmetics has always been promising when it comes to blushes, especially their (discontinued) Silky Touch Blushes, I have a couple of those in my makeup stash that are very loved. The Essence Mosaic Blushes are a new addition to the makeup line, they were added at the beginning of last year and there are 4 shades available: 10 miss floral coral, 20 all you need is pink, 30 kissed by the sun and 40 the berry connection. When I was shopping for Essence's new makeup collection I never anticipated picking even one of these up, now I have 3. Here are my thoughts!

I like the packaging, it's basic but very much an improvement from their other blushes. The top is flat which makes them easier to store and the overall look is more sleek looking. The mosaic design also is impressive, it's eye catching and definitely makes a statement. I picked up the first 3 shades from the range, the last one, nr 40 is a vibrant pink that is too over the top for my pale skin tone, a great pick for the more makeup adventurous though. All shades have a satin finish which I think adds a nice touch. Kissed by the sun, the bronzy shade, is the one I've used the most and a blush that is very true to its name.

Swatches from top to bottom:

Essence Mosaic Blush 10 miss floral coral
Essence Mosaic Blush 20 all you need is pink
Essence Mosaic Blush 30 kissed by the sun

I have to admit the swatches come off sheer, a bit dusty and with a lot of powder residue, but the products is not at all chalky. The blushes are pigmented and blend beautifully into the skin when applied with a tapered blusher blush. I do find the color selection a bit boring however, I wish there would have been more variety. The options are pretty nevertheless. My favorite is the bronzy shade, I've used it so much I hit pan on the mosaic design and purchased a new one already (see blushes below). It gives a beautiful tan-like glow on the cheeks. I sometimes use it to do some slight shaping as well, it's been a part of my TOP 5 Everyday Makeup Staples for quite some time and I highly recommend it.

  1. I love Essence, it's one of my favourite affordable brands. I purchased and tried a lot of their products, some are good, some are not, but lately they came up with really good products. My favourite lately it the Sheer & Shine Lipstick in #13 Like A Princess, a lovely pink!

  4. Essence's Blushes are some of my favourite, so far I've tried the satin and the matt line, the mosaic is next on the list! Although I agree with you, their shade selection could be better, hopefully they will add more soon! My go-to lately is matt in rose me up xx

  5. I'm not so happy with the new mosaic blushes, too dusty and crumbly, and except for the bronzy one there is no color I like. I liked the old "silky touch" blushes a LOT better, too bad they're gone. :(
