As you are reading this I'm probably desperately trying to get my blog back on track. Yesterday night as I was looking for some inspiration to write an interesting article, for you, I accidentally deleted all of the pictures in my Google Album Archive. Everything. Gone. In a matter of seconds. My face felt like it had caught fire and I think a little part of me slowly but surely died inside .. because I had not set up any kind of back up system on my computer.
It actually was a glitch, I think, because I never confirmed that I wanted to the delete them, but once the photos are gone, they are gone. No trash bin to recover them from and no Google phone number to call. Only a forum where I read over and over again that my images won't ever be coming back. If for some reason you are still able to see all the images on my site, I'm glad, at least it still looks like I've got my shit together .. but for Google, and other search engines, my images do no longer exist. I'm going to take this opportunity to clean up my site a little, delete some old blogposts, update pictures and make it look new again. I will, of course, make sure that from now on everything will be backed up, not only on my external hard drive (thank God), but also on Google. I don't know how long it will take for my website to be on a roll again, or when I'll be posting new content, but I hope it will be soon. Let this be a learning lesson and a warning for all you creative bloggers out there, keep your images safe!
