Behind The Scenes: My Blog Statistics Of 2016

When it comes to blogging, 2016 has been a very exciting year for me. I've made so many improvements, perfected my content, my writing, my photography skills, updated my whole website, lay out and even my blogging style. I've been reached out to by brands I'd never thought I would be in contact with today, and I couldn't be more grateful and eager to know what the future holds. Here's an overview of my blogging statistics of 2016 and how you have impacted my life online!

joliennathalie.com receives about 7000 unique visitors every month

These are not the 7000 people that are subscribed to my youtube channel, these are 7000 other makeup addicts with a passion and taste for quality low budget makeup products and personal life updates and experiences.

My most viewed articles are the ones without comments

I can be very insecure about blogposts that don't show any interaction, simply because it seems that no one is really interested. When I look at my analytics however, most of those articles are insanely popular and receive more clicks than posts that do show a reasonable amount of comments.

My main source of traffic is Twitter

Ever since I started scheduling my tweets using Buffer my traffic got a major boost, so much so that it has become my main source of referral traffic.

The age of my main audience is between 18 and 34

Beauty bloggers usually have a fairly young audience, I was surprised to find out that most of you are actually my age and older.

My niche is low budget makeup

Drugstore makeup in Belgium is expensive. A simple L'Oreal mascara can sometimes retail for as much as a high end mascara, so I decided to focus on makeup that is actually affordable: low budget makeup. Low budget makeup is very underrated and often times even referred to as 'children's makeup'. I'm here to show you that budget proof products are, and can be, just as amazing as expensive cosmetics.

The top 10 countries to visit my site are the United States, Belgium, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Germany, Portugal, Italy, Spain, Greece, Romania

These are in descending order of visits, since I blog in English I'm not at all astonished that the US and the UK are in the top 10. I am very happy however that my own country is in the top 3. It's difficult to be recognised as a Belgian blogger when you don't blog in your mother tongue, meaning French or Dutch (Flemish).

Article with the most pageviews: Essence I Love Nude Lipsticks Review

This article represents the kickstart of my blogging niche. Essence Cosmetics has a huge following and loyal community. It is a makeup brand that keeps a close eye on trends and is very aware of what their audience needs and wants.

Article with the most interaction: 5 Reasons Why You're Not A Successful Blogger

I never expected this article to be so popular but aparently a lot of you fellow bloggers appreciate satire. I had a lot of fun putting together this article and I was very happy to see it was received so well in the blogging community.

My makeup flatlays are my 'trademark'

I receive an insane amount of visits to my site simply from Google image searches. Putting togther a flatlay and taking pictures of makeup is my favorite activity when it comes to blogging, and I'm thrilled my hard work is paying off. I've also noticed that having a certain style of blog photos is a great way to be recognised by beauty brands.

  2. I'm not a blogger so don't know about some of the things you write about, but just to say I LOVE that you feature budget makeup. Though I owned and loved certain Catrice products before I stumbled upon you, it's from you that I learned about other Catrice/Essence/other products which are now my favorites, like the Essence Longlasting lipsticks. I realize these are my all time favorites. I like them more than Estee Lauder, Mac, Bobbi Brown -- they are effin amazing. I also like your graphic sense, the fact that you post often and respond to your readers, your esthetics (I can't relate to bloggers/vloggers who use 25 products per 'look' ... who does this in real life? who wants to?) and your sense of humor. Congratulations on all your hard work and thanks so much.

  3. Great read! Thank you for sharing! We are the same age and I'm from Canada where we don't get a lot of Essence products as early as you, or not the whole line, so it is nice to see you preview them for me! You also present everything beautifully (YES to those flatlays!), honest yet still fresh and your own. All the best to you and your blog. I know you will accomplish lots in the years to come! xoxo
