Essence Cosmetics Nude Lipsticks: swatches, comparison and my recommendations

It's no secret that I adore Essence Cosmetics' new lipstick range. I own every shade released (limited editions aside) and have reviewed more than half of them on my site. In this post I want to talk about the old and new nude lipsticks Essence has released and tell you which ones I consider absolute must haves

The first 5 shades were part of the #ilovenude trend edition released at the beginning of 2015, the last 3 were part of the new collection launched at the beginning of this year. The nude lipstick line itself is divided in two different lipstick finishes, the first 6 of them are creamy and the last 2 have a velvet matt finish

From the bottom to the top: 01 Wearing only a smile, 02 Porcelain doll, 03 Come naturally, 04 It's nude time, 05 Cool nude, 06 Don't stop the nude, 07 Velvet matt, 08 Velvet Matt

I've never been much of a fan when it comes to the lightest shades of this collection Wearing only a smile, Porcelain doll and It's nude time have only ever been used for swatches on my blog and have been untouched ever since. My lips are too pigmented to make shades like that wearable. Porcelain doll could still work, that's true, but considering these are low-budget lipsticks that don't have the highest staying power, even a lipliner wouldn't make up for it in my case. My favorite shades of this line are definitely Come naturally, Cool nude and Don't stop the nude. The formula of these lipsticks is creamy, comfortable, easy to wear and it blends into the lips beautifully. They are excellent my lips but better shades. The velvet matt lipsticks are okay, the color pay off is great and they wear well. There are however a couple of things that bother me about these: the formula is not full on matt and they have somewhat of a chemical taste that is not very pleasant.

Q: Do you wear lipstick on a daily basis? Have you tried Essence lipsticks before? Do you like nude lipsticks? What is your favorite lipstick (brand) and/or color? Leave it in the comments below!

  1. I love Essence lipsticks, I have lots of them but I don't have any from the matt velvet range. My favourite are Cool Nude and Come Naturally! I am impressed with their formula and how affordable these are!
