After using an endless amount of free premade blogger templates I finally bit the bullet and purchased a template on Etsy. If you have been following my blog for a while you know that I started off with very simple templates provided by Blogger, the platform I use for my site. Later on, when blogging began to become a loving and time consuming activity, I started installing templates myself.
The first one I downloaded free of charge was called the Adele Template. After that I moved on to the last template I had, the Avant Garde Template, which I had a completely customised to my liking. I was over the moon when I first started using my Adele Blogger template, it was everything I wanted. It was cute, girly and had a bunch of features basic Blogger templates have not. Like with a lot of things in life, the longer I was using it the more I started seeing flaws, blogging glitches and bugs became very common at some point. That last one was one of the major reasons I desperately wanted to change my Avant Garde template. My individual pages and archives didn't have the same design as the rest of my blog and sometimes wouldn't even appear properly. Catching a reader's attention also proved difficult, as I didn't have a related posts widget or labels to click on. After trying for ages to code and fix problems like that myself I started looking for a simple, affordable, template that had everything I needed. I wasn't necessarily going to purchase anything, I just wanted to know what my options were.
To my big surprise there were loads of super affordable templates available on Etsy. I remember when I was on the hunt for my Avant Garde design I kept seeing prices that were $40 and up, some of them didn't even include customer support. Turns out I was not looking in the right places, after browsing around on the site for a couple days I purchased my current design: the Elora 2 Template by BloggerTemplate. It retails for only €9.95 (update: currently for €5.59-) and has everything I need from a blog lay-out at this moment in time. The design is clean, easy to navigate through and has every single feature I deem important. One of the biggest improvements of my website now is that it's also available and fully functional on mobile, which it wasn't before, I was using one of the default blogger templates. Nowadays as an online content creator having everything functional on smartphones is an absolute must, it's a huge traffic booster. I honestly can't believe I was able to get such a beautiful and effective template for such an affordable price. It was really easy to install too, I can't recommend it enough.
