Essence Mousse Concealer Review & Swatches

Essence Cosmetics released new makeup products for 2016 and this Soft Touch Mousse Concealer is one of the items I featured in my recent massive Essence makeup haul. The concealer is a new addition to the Soft Mousse Makeup range and promises to hide dark under eye circles and skin irregularities. I'm not familiar with the 'mousse concealer' concept, I haven't seen it around among other low budget makeup brands and thought it was very interesting and different, let's take a look.

There are two different shades available of this concealer: 10 Soft Beige and 20 Soft Sand, I purchased the lightest one because of my pale complexion. The formula of this concealer is thick, soft, very full coverage and you get 5 grams of product for the affordable price of €2.99-. I really like the packaging, the heavy, glass container is an elegant touch. I wish Essence had provided a little bit more information about the concealer itself on the packaging however, it literally just states that it's a mousse concealer.

Unfortunately for me I don't find this product very effective as an under eye concealer. It's too light, appears dry, patchy and doesn't blend easily, even when using a primer and finger tapping motions to warm up the product to make it melt into the skin. Using a blending sponge, like I usually do, is not an option either. It does however work very well on the rest of my face. I always use concealers as cream highlighters, applying it to the highest points of my face, the concealer looked great and had fair staying power that way. No patches, no nothing. I mainly applied it to my t-zone which is a tad bit oily and makes me think this is probably a great concealer for people with an oily skin type.

This is the first mousse product from Essence that I've tried and I'm not disappointed. Considering I'm not a fan of mousse products in the first place, I'm happy I was able to keep an open mind and find a great purpose for it.

Q: Do you like Essence makeup? What's your favorite product from the brand? What do you think of the mousse concealer concept? What's your favorite concealer of all time? Be sure to let me know in the comments!
