NEW - Essence Pure Nude Makeup Foundation & Concealer Review

Essence Cosmetics launched a new makeup line to be part of their makeup collection: Pure Nude. Following the popular nude makeup trend they released baked powders, liquid foundations, concealer sticks and even more recently also a baked highlighter. I purchased the Pure Nude Makeup Natural Finish Foundation in the shade 10 pure beige and the Pure Nude Concealer also in the shade pure beige. Here are my thoughts.
I'm very impressed with the formula of this foundation. It's fluid, light weight, has medium coverage and yellow undertones. Essence foundations are known to oxidise quite easily, so I was quite a surprised to see this foundation didn't take on an orangy tone. When it comes to the packaging I love that they included a pump, it's not only hygienic, it shows how Essence Cosmetics slowly but surely has been stepping up their game in the makeup industry. The foundation is currently available in 3 shades: 10 pure beige, 20 pure sand and 30 pure honey. The concealer is available in the exact same shades, I assume for customers to find a match between the products. The concealer is a twist up and formula that is very basic. It's creamy, easy to blend and that does not appear patchy or streaky.

When it comes to the longevity the products the foundation is not long lasting at all, a gel primer however does the trick just right. It extends the wear of the Pure Nude foundation from just a couple hours to a decent 6 hour wear. I like to use the Rimmel London Fix & Perfect Pro for that. I really like and enjoy this low budget foundation. It's easy to blend and my skin looks sun kissed and golden. It also is one of the only low-budget foundations I've ever tried that matches the rest of my body perfectly. The concealer stick is not a must have in my opinion. It's an okay product, not something I will personally reach for often. I used it to conceal my dark under eye circles and highlight the highest points of my face, I also set it with a little powder after. It didn't really do the concealing job as flawlessly as suggested on the description of the packaging but as a highlighter it's an honest worker. I recommend the Catrice Cosmetics Liquid Camouflage Concealer instead or the Miss Sporty Perfect Stay Liquid Concealer, they are both great low budget options.

  1. Omg the 'I Love Nude' collection haven't even reach Malaysia yet (maybe in the next 2-3 months) and now Essence comes out with 'Pure Nude'! Are there any others included in this collection? or just foundation and concealer?

    1. There is also a 'Pure Nude Powder' available in 4 different shades, they were all too dark for my skin tone however :)

  2. Unless they also have these products in shades that are a couple tints darker.. I'm afraid it's not going to work for me. :-P

I do love how it looks on you.. I like the nice subtle highlighting you've done! :)

What gel primer do you use again?

    1. In Belgium they only have 2 shades darker, maybe they'll have more soon, let's hope so! I like to use the Essence All About Matte Oil Control Makeup Base and the Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer :) Here's a Review of the Essence one! http://www.joliennathalie.com/2015/02/drugstore-primers-under-5-euro.html

    1. Their long lasting lipsticks are amazing indeed :D I have combination skin for the moment and when I use a primer the foundation doesn't break down any faster than on any other places on my face so yes, I'd think it's suitable for oily skin types! Xxxx :)

  4. Hey!
